Gita Ch 2: Q&A on Relevance of Gita and Miracles

From the works of Living Enlightened Master Paramahamsa Nithyananda. In this clip taken from discourse titled, "Bhagavad Gita -- Chapter 2: You are God", Swamiji explains that Bhagavad Gita is very relevant for modern man. Gita was the first scripture that gave Quantum Spirituality where one need not choose between material and spiritual life, but can explode in all directions. Swamiji goes on to further throwing light on supernatural powers and miracles. There are many things which are possible, which our logical mind cannot accept or which science cannot explain yet. The complete discourse or the complete Bhagavad Gita set may be ordered online at www.lifeblissgalleria.com

Quantum Computing Day 3: Does an Explanation of Higher Brain Function require...

Google Tech Talks January, 10 2008 ABSTRACT Syllabus and Recommended Literature This tech talk series explores the enormous opportunities afforded by the emerging field of quantum computing. The exploitation of quantum phenomena not only offers tremendous speed-ups for important algorithms but may also prove key to achieving genuine synthetic intelligence. We argue that understanding higher brain function requires references to quantum mechanics as well. These talks look at the topic of quantum computing from mathematical, engineering and neurobiological perspectives, and we attempt to present the material so that the base concepts can be understood by listeners with no background in quantum physics. In this third talk we review the history of the theory that quantum effects are essential to understanding brain function. We look at the theory of Penrose and Hameroff and its refutation by the decoherence calculations of Tegmark. Our experiments with pattern recognition using a quantum computer teach new lessons on which type of problems the brain may solve by quantum processes and how the data flow might look. Specifically, we conjecture that computations that are not time-critical and which require the solution of a global optimization problem are good candidates for brain processes facilitated by quantum phenomena. We then study situations in which coherence could be maintained to be of behavioral relevance as well as recent findings that show the relevance of coherence in basic biological processes such as photo synthesis and enzyme function. We advance a speculative theory that mental states induced by tryptamines might come about by enhancing the propensity of the brain to relegate certain computations to quantum annealing. We argue that by virtue of being a physical substrate the brain exists in a global superposition with the environment and participates in information exchange via fundamental physical interactions. This regime becomes relevant in situations in which neural dynamics is less driven by sensory input or behavioral affordances. Studying multiple corpora of reports describing experiences mediated by the psychoactive brew ayahuasca, we argue that our model outperforms a more mainstream neurobiological explanation based on neural assemblies. AJ Jacobs - The Year of Living Biblically

From the bestselling author of The Know-It-All comes a fascinating and timely exploration of religion and the Bible. Raised in a secular family but increasingly interested in the relevance of faith in our modern world, A.J. Jacobs decides to dive in headfirst and attempt to obey the Bible as literally as possible for one full year. He vows to follow the Ten Commandments. To be fruitful and multiply. To love his neighbor. But also to obey the hundreds of less publicized rules: to avoid wearing clothes made of mixed fibers; to play a ten-string harp; to stone adulterers. The resulting spiritual journey is at once funny and profound, reverent and irreverent, personal and universal and will make you see history's most influential book with new eyes. Jacobs's quest transforms his life even more radically than the year spent reading the entire Encyclopedia Britannica for The Know-It-All. His beard grows so unruly that he is regularly mistaken for a member of ZZ Top. He immerses himself in prayer, tends sheep in the Israeli desert, battles idolatry, and tells the absolute truth in all situations - much to his wife's chagrin. Throughout the book, Jacobs also embeds himself in a cross-section of communities that take the Bible literally. He tours a Kentucky-based creationist museum and sings hymns with Pennsylvania Amish. He dances with Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn and does Scripture study with Jehovah's Witnesses. He discovers ancient biblical wisdom of startling relevance. And he wrestles with seemingly archaic rules that baffle the twenty-first-century brain. Jacobs's extraordinary undertaking yields unexpected epiphanies and challenges. A book that will charm readers both secular and religious, The Year of Living Biblically is part Cliff Notes to the Bible, part memoir, and part look into worlds unimaginable. Thou shalt not be able to put it down. www.myspace.com/jacobsaj www.ajjacobs.com

Kinky sex makes the world go around

This is a piece done by the Dead Kennedys in the 80's. It's over 20 years old now, yet it still seems to have a strange relevance to todays world. If you take out soviet and replace it with middle east, it becomes VERY relevant. I'm not trying to push any particular political view, and the pictures I selected for this vid were selected pretty quickly, so not all that much thought went into it. There's no hidden message or anything, it's just meant to be thought provocing.

Programming Bits and Atoms

Google Tech Talks October 24, 2008 ABSTRACT Computer science serves to isolate programs (and programmers) from knowledge of the underlying mechanisms used to manipulate information, however it will not be possible to maintain this fiction in the approaching limit in which the number of information-bearing degrees of freedom in a computer becomes comparable to the number of physical ones. I will explore the implications of aligning these physical and computational descriptions for improving the performance, scalability, and ultimately the relevance of information technologies for some of the grandest global challenges. Examples will be drawn from work on conformal computing, interdevice internetworking, and digital fabrication. Speaker: Neil Gershenfeld Prof. Neil Gershenfeld is the Director of MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms. His unique laboratory is breaking down boundaries between the digital and physical worlds, from creating molecular quantum computers to virtuosic musical instruments. Technology from his lab has been seen and used in settings including New York's Museum of Modern Art and rural Indian villages, the White House and the World Economic Forum, inner-city community centers and automobile safety systems, Las Vegas shows and Sami herds. He is the author of numerous technical publications, patents, and books including Fab, When Things Start To Think, The Nature of Mathematical Modeling, and The Physics of Information Technology, and has been featured in media such as The New York Times, The Economist, and the McNeil/Lehrer News Hour. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and has been selected as a CNN/Time/Fortune Principal Voice and by Prospect/FP as one of the top 100 public intellectuals. Dr. Gershenfeld has a BA in Physics with High Honors and an honorary Doctor of Science from Swarthmore College, a Ph.D. from Cornell University, was a Junior Fellow of the Harvard University Society of Fellows, and a member of the research staff at Bell Labs.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Trailer/Teaser PSP

Opened comments back up, but, keep this in mind. I just said, four times now, that this trailer is featured at the end of KH2 Final Mix, it's relevance to Birth by Sleep is why I posted it WITH the information located in the description. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p35/BelmontSlayer/c027b329.jpg Just announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2007 were three Kingdom Hearts titles. Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Which this video is a trailer/teaser for. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days For Nintendo DS appears to star Roxas from Kingdom Hearts II, but its main draw looks to be four-player simultaneous play using members of Organization XIII. It will be in full 3D. Kingdom Hearts: Coded A mobile game, likely for Japanese cell phones. It stars the familiar cast of main characters from the original Kingdom Hearts (Sora & co.) and seems to be set between the first and second PlayStation 2 titles. Information from http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3162989 Now I know what your going to say "But this trailer was in KH2 Final Mix!" Yes it was, but it was a trailer for a previously unannounced KH title that most of us thought was for Kingdom Hearts 3, well, it's not, it's for Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. "Despite the entire Internet collectively wagering that Square Enix would be announcing the long-rumored remake of Final Fantasy VII, no such thing has happened. But the Kingdom Hearts rumors? Totally on the mark. In fact, no less than three new KH titles are in the works and were revealed today at Tokyo Game Show, for PSP, DS and...mobile phones. OK, so the "Kingdom Hearts on PS3" rumors were a little off. The PSP title, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, seems most likely to resonate with fans of the series -- and not just because they tend to be PlayStation fans. Of the three games shown today, Birth seems to be most in keeping with the series standards. It's a single-player action RPG with plenty of combo-driven melee action... and the hero is a dead ringer for Zack, the leading man of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core whose life Cloud Strife decided to imitate (in every category from clothing to girlfriends). It's hard to say if it really is Zack -- the name is never given, and characters by designer Tetsuya Nomura tend to look alike -- but he absolutely looks like a Kingdom Hearts-style rendition of the FFVII character. The spiky black hair, the bright blue eyes, the dark clothing with dark red suspenders, the armor over his left shoulder -- it's all Zack. There is one difference, though: The lead character in Birth is a Keyblade warrior, an honor never afforded to previous Final Fantasy-to-Kingdom Hearts transplants like Cloud and "Leon" (aka Squall). So who knows what it means? Very little gameplay was demonstrated, but plenty of in-game story was shown, with the unnamed hero speaking to a boy who appeared to be Kingdom Hearts II's Roxas. Much of the video presentation was dominated by an old man with eerie yellow eyes and a formal military jacket, who spoke in what appeared to be a somewhat stern (if not quite threatening) manner to maybe-Zack and maybe-Roxas in a dusty, windswept valley. At one point, a wicked-looking warrior in black and red armor and an opaque black helmet confronted the hero, only to be thwarted by the timely arrival of King Mickey. Equally tantalizing were flashes of what appeared to be young Tidus and Rikku playing on the beach. The little gameplay revealed appears to fall very much in the Kingdom Hearts mold. Is-it-Zack lays into foes with his Keyblade, leaping over obstacles like tree trunks as he battles through a dark forest setting and collecting various orbs as he fights his way up the steps of a pristine palace. Though the trailer says the game is set in "the distant past," Birth By Sleep probably won't be showing up at retail until the distant future -- no date was given for this prequel. What Good is the Church?

Two of the world's most cherished Christian teachers discuss the role and relevance of the Church in the modern world, and how it was originally created in order to preserve the teachings of Christ--with the singular purpose of helping to bring people into the exact same relationship with God that Christ himself had, leading humanity into a space that is truly both "fully human and fully divine." While much of this teaching has been lost in the fog of religious fundamentalism over the centuries, the spirit of this core intention continues to thrive in such beautiful souls as Father Thomas and Brother David, both of whom bring extraordinary humor, grace, and love to a very difficult (and controversial) topic. The discussion uses some terminology from Spiral Dynamics, a system of measuring different value systems as they unfold in human consciousness. Here is a brief summary, including Ken Wilber's current names for some of these levels: Beige: Archaic-instinctive—survivalistic/automatic/reflexological * From 100,000 BC on * "Express self to meet imperative physiological needs through instincts of Homo sapiens." Purple (or Magenta): Animistic-tribalistic magical-animistic Tribal order * From 50,000 BC on * "Sacrifice to the ways of the elders and customs as one subsumed in group." Red: Egocentric-exploitive power gods/dominionist * From 7000 BC on * "Express self (impulsively) for what self desires without guilt and to avoid shame." Blue (or Amber): Absolutistic-obedience mythic order—purposeful/authoritarian * From 3000 BC on * "Sacrifice self for reward to come through obedience to rightful authority in purposeful Way." Orange: Multiplistic-achievist scientific/strategic * From 1000 AD on (as early as 600 AD according to Graves and Calhoun) * "Express self (calculatedly) to reach goals and objectives without rousing the ire of important others." Green: Relativistic-personalistic—communitarian/egalitarian * From 1850 AD on (surged in early 20th century) * "Sacrifice self interest now in order to gain acceptance and group harmony." Yellow (or Teal): Systemic-integrative * From 1950s on * "Express self for what self desires, but to avoid harm to others so that all life, not just own life, will benefit." Turquoise: Holistic * From 1970s on * A sacrifice self-interest system which is still forming For more about Spiral Dynamics and other measurements of Altitude, please see www.holons-news.com/altitudes
